## What it does

FCPXML MCP gives agents a deep Final Cut Pro XML workbench: inspect timelines, detect flash frames and gaps, add marker batches, build rough cuts, reformat cuts, export EDL/CSV, and write Resolve or FCP7 handoff files. It fits the assistant-editor jobs that do not require eyes on the frame: count, QC, annotate, restructure, and push a clean XML back into the edit bay.

Rename direction, corrected — an earlier version of this note had it backwards. `DareDev256/fcpxml-mcp-server` is the OLD path and 301-redirects to the canonical `DareDev256/fcp-mcp-server`; use the latter. Name collision warning: the `fcp-mcp` entry in this directory is dreliq9's separate Final Cut server, not this one. MIT, v0.15.0 released Aug 4 2026, 79 stars, Python >=3.10, PyPI `fcp-mcp-server`. Since v0.14.0 the advertised surface is 7 grouped tools (inspect/diagnose/edit/mark/generate/transcript/deliver) dispatching 62 underlying operations; set FCP_MCP_LEGACY_TOOLS=1 to advertise the old flat tool names. This is not an in-FCP plugin: Live Mode pushes XML into Final Cut via an Apple event, but current timelines still come back by manual File > Export XML.
