What it does

Palmier Pro is a Swift video editor built around human-agent co-editing. When the app is open, its local HTTP MCP server lets Claude, Codex, Cursor and Claude Desktop inspect the timeline, search media, add and move clips, generate media, caption, color, apply effects and export from the same project the editor is showing. It shipped as GPLv3 open source and went closed in August 2026 — the MCP surface is unchanged, the source behind it is no longer published.

Field notes

Not open source since August: the README states that releases through v0.7.6 (Aug 19 2026) and source through the `last-gpl-source` tag were GPLv3, that later binary releases are proprietary under a separate binary license with their source unpublished, and that the repo no longer accepts code contributions. Re-checked 12 Oct 2026: current release is v0.11.0 (Oct 5 2026), three minor versions since late August, at 14.6k stars — still shipping fast, but GitHub's GPL-3.0 badge describes only the frozen historical source, not the binary you download, so you are trusting a binary. The MCP endpoint and Claude Code command in the README are unchanged; Claude Desktop gets a bundled one-click mcpb extension from Help > MCP Instructions. The README no longer publishes a tool list, so tools_sample reflects the earlier open-source build — run tools/list on the current one. If a published-source editor matters to your pipeline, pin v0.7.6 or use `davinci-resolve`. Generative AI processing was always closed and needs login plus a subscription. Hard platform caveat that rules out most crews: macOS 26 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon only — no Windows, no Linux, no Intel Macs. The MCP endpoint at 127.0.0.1:19789 is local-only and exists only while the app is running with a project open.
