Dead: OpenAI's shutdown date for the Videos API and every sora-2 model was 2026-09-24.

What it does

OpenAI announced the deprecation of the Videos API and the sora-2 family on 2026-03-24 and set 2026-09-24 as the shutdown date; the consumer Sora app was discontinued on 2026-04-26. This community server was the most-starred Sora MCP, and it is a thin wrapper over that one endpoint, so it has nothing left to call. Kept listed so agents that ask for Sora get an explanation and a migration path instead of a blank page.

Use `google-genmedia` (Veo 3.1), `runway` (Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0) or `higgsfield` (Seedance 2.5, Kling 3) instead. Checked 5 Oct 2026: OpenAI's deprecation table still lists the Videos API, sora-2 and sora-2-pro against a 2026-09-24 shutdown with no recommended replacement, and that date has passed. Install fields are nulled because building this server now gets you a client for an endpoint OpenAI has retired — the README's clone-and-build steps still work, there is just nothing left for them to talk to. The repo (MIT, 209 stars) is not archived but has had no commit since 2025-10-08, and the writingmate/sora-2-mcp alternative is equally stale. The `verified` date records confirming the shutdown, not a working server.
