Silhouette MCP Server

Officialby Boris FXpaidverified Oct 15, 2026

The only roto, paint, and planar-tracking MCP — Boris FX Silhouette driven by an agent.

What it does

Ships inside Silhouette 2026 and exposes the fx Python API to MCP clients: inspect projects and sessions, walk and build node graphs, apply Roto/Paint/Composite/Matte Assist ML templates, create and keyframe bezier and oval shapes, and render frames back into the conversation. It is the first MCP into the roto and paint end of post, where the manual hours actually live. Silhouette's Preferences > MCP page writes the client config for you.

Field notes

Shipped with Silhouette 2026 on May 28 2026; re-checked 15 Oct 2026 — the MCP wiki page is unchanged since 22 May and Boris FX still sells 2026 as current, with MCP control by AI assistants on the product page. Codex has no Configure Client option; paste the generated snippet by hand. Two modes via SFX_MCP_MODE: 'online' (default) drives a running instance over its RPC socket with live UI updates and grouped undo blocks; 'offline' runs Silhouette headless per tool call for batch, CI, and farm work — Configure Client always writes online, so offline needs a hand edit. Configure Client for Claude Code shells out to `claude mcp remove silhouette --scope user` then `claude mcp add`, so re-running it is safe. execute_script is an unguarded escape hatch that runs arbitrary fx Python. Not cheap and not standalone-free: $545/yr or $103/mo when last quoted in Aug 2026 — the Boris FX store renders prices client-side and could not be re-read here, so treat the figures as indicative. Included in the Boris FX Suite; runs standalone or as a plugin inside After Effects, Premiere, Nuke, Resolve/Fusion, and Flame. Closed source — no repo to audit.
